NBA: Boston 97, Miami 81

BOSTON, May 7 (UPI) -- Kevin Garnett keyed a big third quarter Saturday that lifted Boston back into its conference semifinal series with a 97-81 victory over Miami.

Garnett attempted seven two-point shots in the third period and made them all while the Celtics were outscoring the Heat in the quarter 28-15.

That allowed Boston to overcome a two-point halftime deficit and reduce Miami's series lead to 2-1. The Celtics will try to even the series at home Monday.

Boston pulled away despite the shock of seeing point guard Rajon Rondo leave the court midway through the third period with what team officials said was a dislocated left elbow.

Rondo went to the floor scrambling for a loose ball and he attempted to brace himself with his left arm. The elbow became bent and Rondo yelled out in pain. He was helped to the locker room, where the elbow was popped back in place, and Rondo amazingly was back on the court at the start of the fourth quarter.

He said after the game he would be ready for Monday's contest.

Garnett led the Celtics with 28 points, hitting 13-of-of-20 shots from the field. Paul Pierce added 27 points and Ray Allen had 15. Boston shot 50 percent from the floor and held Miami to 42 percent.

Dwyane Wade scored 23 points for the Heat. LeBron James made only 6-of-16 shots from the field and 3-of-7 attempts from the foul line, finishing with 15 points.
