MLB: Texas 5, Seattle 2

SEATTLE, May 5 (UPI) -- C.J. Wilson struck out 12 while going the distance for the fourth time in his career Wednesday, lifting the Texas Rangers to a 5-2 victory over Seattle.

Mitch Moreland snapped a tie with a fifth-inning homer and the Rangers, who got off to a 9-1 start this year, won for just the third time in 10 games.

Wilson (4-1) is in his seventh year with Texas and his other three complete games all came last season, during which he went 15-8. The 12 strikeouts equaled his career high, established in a 2010 start against Baltimore.

Moreland's homer gave Texas a 3-2 lead and Chris Davis added a solo homer in the seventh. Ian Kinsler gave the Rangers an insurance run in the eighth when he scored on a wild pitch.

Seattle starter Michael Pineda (4-2) struck out nine but he allowed four runs on seven hits over seven innings to take the loss.

Both Seattle runs were driven in by Miguel Olivo sacrifice fly balls in the first and third.
