FOXBOROUGH, Mass., May 3 (UPI) -- New England quarterback Tom Brady's recovery from foot surgery is on track and he is expected to be ready for the 2011 season, WEEI reported Tuesday.

The sports radio network attributed the update to a source familiar with Brady's situation.

Brady had surgery on his right food Jan. 20 to take care of a stress fracture, WEEI said. The network's source said a recent exam revealed the non-displaced fracture of his navicular bone is bridging, an indication the healing process is moving along on schedule.

Brady's foot injury first became known last November. He skipped some practices but played in all of the Patriots' games. He finished the season with 3,900 passing yards, 36 touchdowns and four interceptions, winning his second NFL MVP award and helping New England win the AFC East.

In February, Brady told the NFL Network many players have to deal with similar injuries in the course of a season.

"Part of having a little bit of mental toughness is putting those things aside and still going out and trying to perform your best each week," he said, giving credit to his trainers for helping "get me out on the field feeling good."

In the past several weeks, Brady has been seen without the walking boot he wore immediately after surgery.

Brady, 33, has had five surgical procedures in his career. He also had a rib injury and a broken finger last season.
