MLB: San Diego 5, Los Angeles Dodgers 2

LOS ANGELES, May 1 (UPI) -- Will Venable scored the tie-breaking run on an eighth-inning wild pitch Saturday and the San Diego Padres went on to a 5-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

With the score tied 2-2, Venable led off the eighth with a single against Matt Guerrier (2-2), going to second on Jason Bartlett's single and to third on Ryan Ludwick's sacrifice bunt.

After Chase Headley was intentionally walked and Nick Hundley popped out, Orlando Hudson was batting when Guerrier uncorked a wild pitch to put the Padres up 3-2.

Cameron Maybin then grounded a hit to left that scored Bartlett. Headley also came around and would have been out at the plate but he knocked the ball out of the hands of catcher Dioner Navarro for an error.

Luke Gregerson (1-1) collected the win despite allowing a score-tying single to Tony Gwynn Jr. in the seventh inning.

Mike Adams tossed a scoreless eighth and Heath Bell picked up his sixth save with a 1-2-3 ninth.

James Loney drove in a run with a sacrifice fly for the Dodgers.
