MLB: Boston 6, Baltimore 2

BALTIMORE, April 28 (UPI) -- Adrian Gonzalez and Jacoby Ellsbury both drove in two runs Thursday and the Boston Red Sox piled up 13 hits in downing Baltimore 6-2.

Boston salvaged the final contest in a three-game series, getting a four-hit performance over eight innings from Jon Lester.

Gonzalez doubled home a run in the first and singled in another in the third. Boston was nursing a one-run lead going into the eighth, and then scored three times in that inning with Ellsbury delivering a two-run single.

Lester (3-1) struck out five and walked three while throwing 108 pitches. Jonathan Papelbon worked a perfect ninth in a non-save situation.

Reliever Jim Johnson (1-1) took the loss. He gave up the go-ahead run in the seventh on an infield single by Dustin Pedroia.
