SAN DIEGO, April 26 (UPI) -- Ryan Ludwick's second homer of the game, in the bottom of the 13th inning Monday, handed the San Diego Padres a 5-3 victory over Atlanta.
After Nick Hundley drew a one-out walk from Cristhian Martinez (0-2), Ludwick lofted a fly to left field. The Braves' Martin Prado scaled the wall in an attempt to nab it but it fell just beyond his reach for a walk-off game-winner.
Cory Luebke (1-1) hurled two scoreless innings to earn the victory and six Padres relievers teamed up to shut out the Braves over seven frames as San Diego won the first of a three-game series.
Ludwick also connected for a solo shot in the third inning. The Padres forged a 3-3 tie in the seventh on Hundley's RBI double.
Justin Heyward smacked a bases-empty homer while Alex Gonzalez added two hits and an RBI for Atlanta.
