Blackhawks' Bickell has wrist surgery

CHICAGO, April 25 (UPI) -- Chicago Blackhawks forward Bryan Bickell will miss the rest of the playoffs after having wrist surgery, the team said Monday.

Bickell, who has two goals and two assists in the Blackhawks' first-round Western Conference series against Vancouver, had tendons in his wrist repaired.

The injury happened in Game 2 when he was accidentally cut by a skate blade.

"While the surgery was anticipated since the injury occurred, Bryan wanted to play as long as possible before time ran out to complete the procedure appropriately," head team physician Michael Terry said. "We anticipate a full recovery in approximately six to eight weeks."
