ANAHEIM, Calif., April 24 (UPI) -- Daisuke Matsuzaka baffled Los Angeles on one hit over eight innings Saturday and the Boston Red Sox cruised to a 5-0 victory over the Angels.
Matsuzaka (2-2), who began the season with two rough outings, ran his scoreless innings streak to 15 with eight shutout frames, allowing only a second-inning single to Alberto Callaspo.
The veteran right-hander walked three and struck out nine in a 115-pitch performance as the surging Red Sox won a fourth straight game for the first time this season.
Kevin Youkilis hit a two-run homer and Carl Crawford added two hits and an RBI for Boston.
Ervin Santana (0-3) was touched for five runs on nine hits over seven innings for the Angels, who fell to 1-12 in their last 13 games against the Red Sox.
