MLB: Texas 11, Kansas City 6

ARLINGTON, Texas, April 22 (UPI) -- Ian Kinsler put Texas in front for good with the second of his team's five home runs Friday and the Rangers went on to down Kansas City 11-6.

Texas scored five times in the first three innings, two of the runs coming on a homer by Mike Napoli.

Kansas City then rallied for a five-run fourth, getting a three-run blast from Brayan Pena that briefly tied the contest.

Kinsler put the Rangers back front with a solo shot in the fourth, David Murphy added a two-run homer in the fifth, Adrian Beltre contributed a solo blast in the sixth and Mitch Moreland had a two-run blow in the seventh.

The Rangers piled up 15 hits, with three each for Kinsler, Michael Young and Beltre.

Derek Holland (3-1), despite allowing the five-run fourth inning, got the win by lasting seven innings. He surrendered seven hits and struck out nine.

Jeff Francis (0-1) gave up six runs on nine hits over four-plus innings to take the loss.
