BALTIMORE, April 21 (UPI) -- Scott Baker worked seven scoreless innings to pick up his first win of the year Thursday and carry Minnesota to a 3-1 decision over Baltimore.
The teams split a four-game series and the Twins won for the third time in five games. Baltimore has dropped nine out of 11.
Baker (1-2) allowed four hits and struck out nine in his fourth start of the season. The Twins used four relievers over the final two innings and Matt Capps survived a two-out single in the ninth to collect his third save.
Jim Thome hit a solo homer in the second for the Twins and drove in a run in the sixth with a single. Michael Cuddyer contributed a solo shot in the eighth to make it 3-0.
Vladimir Guerrero produced an RBI infield single in the Baltimore eighth.
The loss went to Jeremy Guthrie (1-3), who allowed two runs on seven hits in seven innings.
