MLB: New York Mets 3, Atlanta 2

ATLANTA, April 17 (UPI) -- Josh Thole knocked in two runs with a pair of singles Sunday and the New York Mets broke a seven-game losing streak with a 3-2 victory over Atlanta.

Thole drove in runs in the first and fifth innings, backing five strong innings from starter Dillion Gee (1-0) as the Mets won for the first time since April 9.

Gee tossed 5 2/3 innings, yielding one run on five hits while walking two and striking out four after being recalled from Class AAA Buffalo to make an emergency start. He was recalled after right-hander Chris Young was placed on the disabled list.

Chris Capuano, R.A. Dickey and Jason Isringhausen held the Braves to one run in 2 1/3 innings of relief and Francisco Rodriguez picked up his second save with a scoreless ninth for New York.

Braves starter Tommy Hanson (1-3) surrendered three runs on five hits over five innings.

Justin Heyward hit a solo homer in Atlanta's defeat.
