KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, April 16 (UPI) -- Rory McIlroy holds a two-stroke lead after Saturday's play at the weather-plagued Maybank Malaysian Open, a stop on the European Tour.

McIlroy is at 12-under-par but was only able to complete half of his round because of heavy rain.

Thursday's first round ran into darkness problems leaving several groups unable to finish the first rounds on the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club course. Play Friday was backed up by a 2 1/2-hour suspension because of rain. The storm returned Saturday, causing a 3 1/2-hour break, and only 12 golfers completed their third rounds.

McIlroy had eight pars and a ninth-hole birdie Saturday in getting to 12-under for the tournament.

He is two strokes ahead of Gregory Bourdy, Mateo Manassero and Alexander Noren.

Bourdy was a 7-under for his first 10 holes Saturday but also had a bogey at No. 13. He has four holes remaining in his third round.

Manassero played nine holes Saturday and is 3-under for the third round.

Noren, who led after one round and was tied with McIlroy for first after the second, had a double bogey -- on the par-3 fourth hole -- two bogeys and three birdies Saturday. He'll return Sunday to a lengthy birdie putt on No. 9.
