PHOENIX, April 14 (UPI) -- Lance Berkman drove in five runs Wednesday, four of them on a second-inning grand slam that launched the St. Louis Cardinals to a 15-5 victory over Arizona.
The Cardinals pounded out 16 hits and scored all their runs over the first five innings.

Berkman's grand slam was part of a six-run inning and Skip Schumaker added a three-run blast in the fourth. Berkman also had an RBI in the first on a groundout.
Jake Westbrook (1-1) was the beneficiary of the generous offensive support. He picked up the win by giving up two earned runs on nine hits over 5 1/3 innings.
Ian Kennedy (1-1) was touched for nine runs in three innings. Albert Pujols and Colby Rasmus drove in two runs each for the Cardinals.
