MINNEAPOLIS, April 12 (UPI) -- Danny Valencia's 10th-inning single drove in the winning run Tuesday and the Minnesota Twins recorded a 4-3 victory over Kansas City.
Delmon Young got a one-out single off Robinson Tejeda (0-1) and Jason Repko pinch-ran for him. After Michael Cuddyer (4-for-4) drew a walk, Jason Kubel's long fly bounced off the glove of right fielder Jeff Francoeur for a single, loading the bases.
Valencia followed with a sharp liner to right, scoring Repko with the winning run as the Twins improved to 4-6 on the season.
Dusty Hughes (1-0) earned the win with a scoreless top of the ninth.
Minnesota starter Brian Duensing allowed two earned runs on eight hits over six innings.
Wilson Betemit collected two hits and an RBI for the Royals.
