PITTSBURGH, April 9 (UPI) -- Jose Tabata's 14th-inning double off the wall in right drove in Josh Rodriguez from first Friday to give the Pittsburgh Pirates a 4-3 victory over Colorado.
Neither side had scored since the sixth inning in a game that took more than 5 hours to play.
Franklin Morales retired the first two men in the 14th, but then issued a four-pitch walk to Rodriguez. Tabata followed by smashing a 3-1 offering high off the wall to give the Pirates their fifth win in eight games this season.
Colorado's Jason Giambi hit a three-run homer in the first but the Rockies could not score again off seven Pittsburgh hurlers.
Garrett Olson (1-1), the last of those pitchers, worked the final two innings to get the win.
Morales (0-1) was the eighth Colorado pitcher of the contest. Tabata hit a solo homer in the fifth.
