MLB: Florida 6, New York Mets 2

MIAMI, April 1 (UPI) -- Josh Johnson carried a no-hitter into the seventh Friday and John Buck hit a grand slam homer in bringing Florida a 6-2 victory over the New York Mets.

Johnson faced just one batter over the minimum through six innings in the opening game of the season for both the Marlins and Mets, but finally gave up a lead-off double to Willie Harris in the seventh. New York eventually scored twice in the inning against Johnson, but the Mets could not make a dent in the Florida bull pen.

Buck's grand slam came in his second at bat for the Marlins after spending his previous eight seasons with Houston, Kansas City and Toronto.

Mike Stanton drew a one-out walk in the fourth off Mike Pelfrey and went to third on a double by Gaby Sanchez. Logan Morrison then drew a five-pitch walk and Buck followed with his homer to right.

Johnson wound up allowing three hits with two walks and three strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings. Pelfrey lasted 4 1/3 innings while giving up four runs on five hits.
