MIAMI, March 31 (UPI) -- Novak Djokovic improved his 2011 record to 22-0 Wednesday while reaching the semifinals of the Sony Ericsson Open.

Djokovic improved upon his perfect year with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Kevin Anderson in the quarterfinals, setting up a meeting with Mardy Fish.

Fish earned his third semifinal appearance of the season by defeating David Ferrer 7-5, 6-2. Fish has yet to advance to a championship match in 2011 and he will have a difficult time doing so against Djokovic, who has won the Australian Open this year along with tournaments in Dubai and Indian Wells, Calif.

No matter how he does against Djokovic, however, Fish will become the highest-ranked American player next week. He will move up to at least No. 11 in the world while Andy Roddick will drop from No. 8 to No. 14.

In quarterfinal matches Thursday, Rafael Nadal will meet Tomas Berdych and Roger Federer will take on Gilles Simon.
