CHESTER, Pa., March 26 (UPI) -- Carlos Ruiz found the net in the 77th minute Saturday, handing the Philadelphia Union a 1-0 decision over expansion Vancouver.
The game was scoreless until Ruiz easily tapped in a feed from Sebastien Le Toux, who had collected a friendly bounce on a deflected shot from outside the penalty area.

The tally came 11 minutes after the Union (2-0-0) had nearly taken a lead when Whitecaps goalie Joe Cannon made a great reaction save on an overhead kick by Ruiz from close range.
Vancouver (1-1-0) went down to defeat after winning its first-ever MLS game last weekend against Toronto FC.
