NHL: Nashville 3, Edmonton 1

NASHVILLE, March 22 (UPI) -- David Legwand notched a goal and an assist for Nashville Tuesday and the Predators strengthened their playoff position with a 3-1 win over Edmonton.

Martin Erat and Patric Hornqvist each netted first-period tallies for the Preds, who established a five-point cushion in the tightly-packed Western Conference post-season race with the victory.

Pekka Rinne turned aside 19-of-20 shots and improved to 6-2-1 in his last nine starts for Nashville, which won for the sixth time in seven contests.

Jordan Eberle scored and Devan Dubnyk stopped 27-of-30 shots for the Oilers, who fell to 0-5-2 in their last seven games.
