NHL: Nashville 4, Buffalo 3 (OT)

BUFFALO, N.Y., March 20 (UPI) -- Martin Erat completed a Nashville comeback Sunday by scoring 27 seconds into overtime to give the Predators a 4-3 victory over Buffalo.

The Sabres appeared headed for a win, holding a two-goal lead as the clock ticked under 3 minutes in the third period.

Blake Geoffrion then finished off a hat trick by scoring twice in the span of 1:04, the tying goal coming with 1:23 to go in regulation. Geoffrion was playing in only his 11th NHL game.

The game-winner came after David Legwand intercepted a pass behind the Buffalo net. He threw the puck out to the left circle for Ryan Suter, who rifled a pass to Erat.

Erat, positioned just to the right of the slot, one-timed it home to give the Predators their third straight victory.

In addition to his two late goals, Geoffrion opened the scoring 6:44 into the contest.

Anders Lindback made 35 saves in helping Nashville climb into sixth place in the tightly bunched Western Conference playoff race.

Buffalo has lost two out of three, but remained three points clear in its bid to hold onto the eighth and final post-season spot in the East. Ryan Miller gave up all four goals on 26 shots.
