MLS: FC Dallas 1, Chicago 1 (tie)

FRISCO, Texas, March 19 (UPI) -- Milton Rodriguez got the equalizer in the 18th minute Saturday and FC Dallas forged a 1-1 draw with the Chicago Fire in the season opener for both clubs.

Rodriguez scored only 1 minute after Diego Chaves had given Chicago a 1-0 lead in the 17th.

Dallas played most of the second half with 10 men after Brek Shea was sent off.

Goalie Kevin Hartman, however, enabled last year's MLS Cup runners-up to stay in the game with several second-half saves.

Chicago (0-1-0) finished with five shots on goal.
