It was the fifth shutout of the season for Halak, equaling a single-season high he set last year while with Montreal.

D'Agostini produced the first two St. Louis goals, scoring with 3:30 left in the first period and with 7 seconds remaining in the middle stanza.

Alex Pietrangelo and T.J. Oshie added third-period goals for the Blues, who ended a two-game skid.

The Kings dropped out of a fourth-place tie with Phoenix, which defeated Edmonton earlier in the evening.

Los Angeles is alone in fifth place in the Western Conference playoff race, one point in front of both Dallas and Chicago. The Kings are only two points ahead of Calgary and three ahead of ninth-place Nashville.

Jamie Quick allowed all four goals on 39 shots.
