SUNRISE, Fla., March 10 (UPI) -- Erik Karlsson snapped a scoreless tie by scoring twice in the span of less than 4 minutes of the third period Thursday, bringing Ottawa a 2-1 win over Florida.
Ottawa's Craig Anderson and Florida's Tomas Vokoun both had a shutout working before a flurry of late scoring helped the Senators to their third win in four games. Ottawa, however, remains stuck in last place in the Eastern Conference -- five points behind the New York Islanders.
Karlsson scored with 8:48 to play and then produced a power-play goal with 5:10 remaining. Florida made it interesting when Clay Wilson tipped in a shot to bring the Panthers within one with 4:13 left.
Florida lost for the sixth time in seven games despite a 37-save performance from Vokoun.
Anderson stopped 33-of-34 shots, winning for the sixth time in nine starts since being obtained in a trade with Colorado.
