COL BKB: Notre Dame 89, Cincinnati 51

NEW YORK, March 10 (UPI) -- Ben Hansbrough's 23 points Thursday led No. 4 Notre Dame to its most one-sided win of the season, an 89-51 blasting of Cincinnati in the Big East quarterfinals.

The Fighting Irish (26-5) won their fifth straight game and set up a Friday semifinal matchup with either Louisville or Marquette.

Notre Dame already had a 17-point lead with 13:30 to play and then held Cincinnati to a mere seven points the rest of the way.

Hansbrough made 8-of-11 attempts from the field and Notre Dame shot 56 percent as a team. The Bearcats were held to just 32 percent.

Carleton Scott had 18 points and six rebounds for the Irish and Tim Abromaitis had 17.

Cincinnati (25-8) was led by Dion Dixon with 15 points.

Friday's first semifinal will send Connecticut against Syracuse. The Huskies advanced with a thrilling 76-74 decision over top-seeded Pittsburgh and Syracuse knocked off St. John's 79-73.

Notre Dame finished second behind Pittsburgh in the 16-team Big East Conference.
