DELRAY BEACH, Fla., Feb. 27 (UPI) -- Juan Martin del Potro cruised to a straight-set victory in the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships final Sunday, downing Janko Tipsarevic.
Del Potro, of Argentina, defeated the sixth-seeded Serb 6-4, 6-4 in 1 hour, 54 minutes to claim his eighth career title and his first since coming back from an wrist injury he suffered last year.
The win was the first for the 22-year-old since the 2009 U.S. Open and his first championship match since the 2009 Barclays ATP World Tour Finals.
Del Potro rallied from a 1-4 deficit to begin the match. He ended up saving 10 of the 11 break points he faced and improved to 4-0 in finals on U.S. soil.
Tipsarevic, meanwhile, was seeking his first career ATP World Tour title.
