COL BKB: Pittsburgh 71, West Virginia 58

PITTSBURGH, Feb. 24 (UPI) -- Nasir Robinson paced Pittsburgh to a strong second half Thursday and the No. 6 Panthers moved closer to a Big East title by downing West Virginia 71-58.

Pittsburgh bounced back from Saturday's loss to St. John's by winning for the sixth time in seven games. The Panthers have a two-game lead over Notre Dame at the top of the Big East with three regular-season contests to play.

West Virginia took a one-point lead into the break, but the Mountaineers could score just 10 points during the first 11 minutes of the second half.

Robinson made 6-of-8 shots from the field and scored 15 points to lead the Panthers. Gilbert Brown, Brad Wanamaker and Lamar Patterson all had 11.

Pittsburgh (25-3, 13-2 Big East) shot 57 percent from the field and held West Virginia to 34 percent.

The Mountaineers (17-10, 8-7) were paced by Casey Mitchell with 22 points.
