COL BKB: Rutgers 77, Villanova 76

PISCATAWAY, N.J., Feb. 9 (UPI) -- An unlikely 4-point play by Jonathan Mitchell with 0.8 seconds to play Wednesday climaxed a rally and gave Rutgers a stunning 77-76 win over No. 10 Villanova.

The Scarlet Knights trailed by 13 with 5 minutes to go, but came back to end a four-game losing streak and hand the Wildcats their third loss in five games.

Rutgers needed a 3-pointer to tie as the final seconds ticked down and Mitchell came through with his long-range shot. As a bonus, Villanova's Corey Fisher was called for a foul on the shot and Mitchell then hit the free throw that won the game.

Mitchell scored a career-best 25 points and James Beatty had 15 points for Rutgers (13-11, 4-8 Big East Conference).

Fisher led Villanova (19-5, 7-4) with 23 points and 10 assists.
