Giraldo, Robredo to face off in Santiago

SANTIAGO, Chile, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- No. 8 Santiago Giraldo and sixth-seeded Tommy Robredo advanced to the finals of the clay-court Movistar Open Saturday with semifinal victories.

Colombia's Giraldo upended fifth-seeded Potito Starace 4-6, 7-6 (2), 6-1 to gain the first ATP event finals of his career.

Giraldo. 23, broke Starace three times in the final set to down the Italian.

Meanwhile, Spain's Robredo rebounded to overcome No. 7 Fabio Fognini, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 in Saturday's other semifinal.

Robredo will be participating in a final for the first time since he won two straight titles at Costa do Sauipe and Buenos Aires in 2009.
