COL BKB: Notre Dame 83, DePaul 58

ROSEMONT, Ill., Feb. 3 (UPI) -- Ben Hansbrough hit a 3-pointer during a key run to end the first half Thursday and No. 8 Notre Dame went on to down DePaul 83-58.

The Fighting Irish moved into second place in the Big East Conference, 1 1/2 games behind Pittsburgh.

Notre Dame had a four-point lead before going on a 15-4 run over the final 6 minutes of the first half. That gave the Irish a 37-24 advantage at intermission and the Blue Demons could not make a game of it during the second period.

Hansbrough made five 3-pointers overall and finished with 24 points. Scott Martin added 15 for Notre Dame (18-4, 8-3 Big East).

The Irish have won four in a row, including a 56-51 triumph over Pittsburgh last week.

Brandon Young scored 16 points for DePaul (6-15, 0-9). The Blue Demons have lost nine straight.
