NHL: Anaheim 3, Edmonton 2

ANAHEIM, Calif., Jan. 16 (UPI) -- Anaheim's Teemu Selanne scored twice and the Ducks survived a late Edmonton onslaught Sunday, hanging on for a 3-2 victory.

Luca Sbisa and Selanne tallied in the first period and the Finnish superstar -- who collected his 1,300th career point -- made it 3-0 on a power-play goal with 2:28 remaining in the middle frame, seemingly putting the Ducks firmly in the driver's seat.

But the Oilers got goals from Magnus Paajarvi and Sam Gagner 36 seconds apart in the period's waning seconds to get back it.

Curtis McElhinney then had to preserve the Ducks' lead, withstanding 6-on-3 and 5-on-3 Edmonton power plays in the game's final 2 minutes en route to a 23-save performance.

McElhinney left the game for 3 minutes in the second period after being cut on his neck but returned after Jonas Hiller had stopped all three shots he faced in the meantime.

Nikolai Khabibulin turned aside 25-of-28 shots for the Oilers.
