NHL: Buffalo 3, Carolina 2

BUFFALO, N.Y., Jan. 13 (UPI) -- Drew Stafford's power-play goal gave Buffalo a two-goal lead early in the third period Thursday and the Sabres held on to down Carolina 3-2.

Ryan Miller surrendered a goal to Jeff Skinner with 32 seconds to go that cut the Buffalo lead to one, but his 27 saves were enough to give Buffalo its third win in four games -- all those victories coming with Miller in goal.
