BOSTON, Jan. 13 (UPI) -- Steve Kampfer put Boston in front with 1:14 to play Thursday and the Bruins scored five times in a wild third period to down Philadelphia 7-5.
Boston won its third straight game and took a four-point lead over idle Montreal in the Northeast Division.
Philadelphia had a 3-2 lead entering the final period, which began with Mark Recchi and Michael Ryder scoring in the opening 2 minutes to put Boston in front.
The Flyers then regained the lead on goals 53 seconds apart by Danny Briere and Sean O'Donnell. It was Briere's 23rd goal of the season and O'Donnell's first in 42 games.
Boston put on a late rush that began with a wrist shot from Brad Marchand that tied it with 8:34 to play. After Kampfer scored unassisted to give the Bruins the lead, Gregory Campbell added an empty-net goal with 6 seconds remaining.
Despite giving up five goals on 35 shots, Tim Thomas picked up his 20th victory of the season.
Brian Boucher suffered the loss while allowing six goals on 36 shots.
Philadelphia, which leads the Eastern Conference with 59 points, had a four-game winning streak snapped.
