COL BKB: Syracuse 76, St. John's 59

NEW YORK, Jan. 12 (UPI) -- Kris Joseph led Syracuse to a hot shooting effort by making 8-of-11 attempts from the field Wednesday and the No. 4 Orange pulled away to down St. John's 76-59.

Syracuse improved to 17-0 with the 1,800th victory in the history of its basketball program. The Orange share the lead in the Big Ten Conference with a 4-0 record.

Joseph scored 18 points, Brandon Triche had 15 and Rick Jackson delivered 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Syracuse shot 56 percent from the field, made 9-of-19 shots from 3-point range and scored the last 10 points of the first half to take a 35-24 lead at the break.

St. John's (10-5, 3-2) was led by Justin Brownlee with 13 points.
