NHL: Philadelphia 7, Los Angeles 4

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Mike Richards had two goals and two assists Thursday to help the Philadelphia Flyers beat the Los Angeles Kings 7-4.

Claude Giroux registered a career-best three assists and Michael Leighton stopped 32 shots for the Flyers, who broke a two-game losing streak.

Jonathan Bernier let in six goals before being replaced by Jonathan Quick in the second period. Quick allowed one goal on six shots the rest of the way in the Kings' second straight loss.

Ryan Smyth scored two goals for Los Angeles.
