NHL: Colorado 4, Edmonton 3 (SO)

EDMONTON, Alberta, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Milan Hejduk delivered the only score of the shootout Thursday and the Colorado Avalanche, despite blowing a three-goal lead, defeated Edmonton 4-3.

Hejduk delivered a goal in the first shootout round and Craig Anderson stopped all three tries by the Oilers to end Colorado's three-game losing streak. Edmonton has dropped four in a row.

T.J. Galiardi, Paul Stastny and Tomas Fleischmann all scored in the first period, giving Colorado a seemingly clear road to victory.

Taylor Hall produced the only second-period goal to bring Edmonton within two and the Oilers then tied it during the first 5 minutes of the third stanza. Ales Hemsky and Andrew Cogliano scored the goals that deadlocked the contest.

Anderson made 32 saves to get the win. Devan Dubnyk gave up three regulation goals on 27 shots.
