COL BKB: Texas 67, Michigan State 55

EAST LANSING, Mich., Dec. 22 (UPI) -- Jordan Hamilton ignited a run to open the second half Wednesday that vaulted 22nd-ranked Texas to a 67-55 victory over No. 12 Michigan State.

The result ended a 52-game home winning streak against non-Big Ten opponents for the Spartans.

Hamilton scored 21 points and Tristan Thompson had 17 points and 15 rebounds, helping the Longhorns (10-2) to their fourth straight win. Michigan State, which shot only 29 percent, fell to 8-4.

Texas held a 31-30 halftime lead, then opened the second period on a 24-12 run.

Michigan State Coach Tom Izzo returned from a one-game suspension brought about by a minor violation of NCAA rules. The Spartans were led by Kalin Lucas with 17 points.
