COL BKB: Kansas 70, Southern Cal 68

LAWRENCE, Kan., Dec. 18 (UPI) -- Josh Selby scored 21 points and hit a late 3-pointer that gave third-ranked and undefeated Kansas a 70-68 win over the University of Southern California.

The highly touted freshman made his KU (10-0) debut after a nine-game suspension for accepting improper benefits, and he made it an impressive one with 5-of-11 shooting and six free throws in 27 minutes off the bench.

His most dramatic moment came with 24.2 seconds to play when Selby knocked down a three off a cross-court pass from Marcus Morris to give the Jayhawks a 69-68 lead.

Marcus Morris and Markieff Morris both scored 11 for the Jayhawks, who shot a wobbly 38.9 percent from the field but out-rebounded the visitors from Troy 38-29.

USC (6-5) had 20 points from Donte Smith and 18 from Alex Stepheson. The Trojans scored just 20 points in the first half but roared back with 48 in the second to keep it close.
