NHL: Phoenix 5, Dallas 2

GLENDALE, Ariz., Dec. 12 (UPI) -- Shane Doan scored two first-period goals Saturday, lifting the Phoenix Coyotes to a 5-2 win over Dallas.

After Ray Whitney had given Phoenix a quick 1-0 lead 6 minutes into the game, Eric Belander intercepted a Dallas pass at center ice and found Doan streaking down the left side. The Phoenix captain then unleashed a wrist shot to make it 2-0.
