AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Dec. 3 (UPI) -- Brandon Bass scored a career-best 27 points off the bench Friday, helping the illness-ridden Orlando Magic down Detroit 104-91.

Center Dwight Howard was unable to play because of a stomach virus, a malady that also struck Mickael Pietrus, Jameer Nelson and J.J. Redick. Howard and Pietrus traveled back to Orlando and will miss Saturday's road game against Milwaukee.

Bass came through in their absence, hitting 11-of-12 shots from the field. Vince Carter added 25 points and both Rashard Lewis and Quentin Richardson had 15. Marcin Gortat, who started in place of Howard, scored 14.

Orlando shot 59 percent as a team and handed the Pistons their fourth straight loss. Tayshaun Prince produced 30 points for Detroit.
