DETROIT, Dec. 1 (UPI) -- With his top two quarterbacks hurt, Detroit Lions Coach Jim Schwartz announced Wednesday he's throwing Drew Stanton into the fray against Chicago.

Stanton gets the starting nod because Shaun Hill is out indefinitely with a broken right index finger and Matt Stafford is still out with a shoulder injury.

So far this season, Stanton has appeared in three games, completing 20-of-36 for 233 yards, a touchdown and an interception. He last started a game a year ago.

The Lions, who are 2-9 and in last place in the NFC North, claimed Zac Robinson off waivers to back up Stanton against the Bears, who are 8-3 and in first place in the division.
