Dolphins QB Pennington out for year

MIAMI, Nov. 15 (UPI) -- Miami Dolphins quarterback Chad Pennington is done for the season, sidelined by a shoulder injury, Coach Tony Sparano said Monday.

Pennington was hurt on the second play of Sunday's 29-17 victory over the Tennessee Titans after Sparano had inserted him into the starting lineup in place of the struggling Chad Henne.

Henne then came in and injured his knee in the same game and was himself replaced by No. 3 quarterback Tyler Thigpen.

Sparano, however, wouldn't rule out the possibility of Henne returning for the Dolphins' Thursday night game against Chicago, telling The Miami Herald the amount of practice time Thigpen will get this week is undecided.

"At this point, depending on what Chad Henne does this week, will determine how many reps (Tyler) gets," the coach said. "But I would think Tyler would take more reps."

Multiple reports indicated the Dolphins Monday signed veteran signal-caller Patrick Ramsey to back up Thigpen.
