NHL: Columbus 3, Atlanta 0

ATLANTA, Nov. 4 (UPI) -- Mathieu Garon made 25 saves for his second straight shutout Thursday, leading the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 3-0 blanking of Atlanta.

The Blue Jackets have won six of their last seven games and Garon is unbeaten in his four decisions this season.

Garon is second on the Columbus goaltending depth chart behind Steve Mason, but has easily outperformed Mason thus far this season. Garon came into Thursday's game with a 1.15 goals-against average.

It was the 18th career shutout for Garon, who has played for five teams over 10 NHL seasons.

The game was scoreless until Derick Brassard produced his fifth goal of the season 4:46 into the second. Jakub Voracek finally gave Columbus some insurance midway through the third and R.J. Umberger added an empty-net goal with 1:26 to play.

Ondrej Pavelec stopped 39-of-41 shots in the loss.
