LAS VEGAS, Oct. 22 (UPI) -- Jonathan Byrd, three years removed from his most recent PGA Tour victory, moved one shot in front Friday after 36 holes of the Shriners Children Hospitals Open.
Byrd, who has three wins on the tour, shot an 8-under-par 63 at the TPC-Summerlin course for a two-day total of 129.
Ryuji Imada, whose best finish of the season came last week when he tied for sixth at the Frys.com Open, was alone in second at 130 after posting a 62 -- the low round of the tournament.
John Senden, one of the five players who shared the lead after the first round, was at 131 in a tie for third with Alex Prugh, Martin Laird, George McNeill and Nicholas Thompson.
Michael Letzig and Cameron Tringale, who also were part of the lead on Thursday, both shot a 68 Friday and were tied for eighth at 132. Tringale, a 23-year-old rookie, made the cut for only the fifth time in his career.
The other first-round co-leaders were Will MacKenzie, who had a 70 for a 134 total, and Robert Garrigus, who settled for a 71 and a 135.
This is the next-to-last tournament at which official money can be won on the PGA Tour this year.
John Daly, who needs a victory to vault into the top 125 players who will earn an exemption onto next year's circuit, shot a 70 for a 136 total and was tied for 47th place.
