COL FB: Nevada 35, San Jose State 13

RENO, Nev., Oct. 10 (UPI) -- Vai Taua ran for three touchdowns Saturday, fueling No. 23 Nevada's 35-13 victory over San Jose State.

Taua, who finished with 196 yards rushing, has hit the 100-yard mark in five straight games and 22 times during his career, best in the nation among current players.

The Wolfpack also got a solid game from quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who completed 20-of-28 passes for 273 yards and ran for two touchdowns. He was intercepted once.

The Wolf Pack (6-0, 1-0 WAC) held Spartans quarterback Jordan La Secla to 145 yards on 14-of-33 passing and intercepted him twice.

San Jose State (1-5, 0-1), have been outscored 138-37 in its last three games against Nevada and lost nine of their last 10 meetings.

Lamon Muldrow rushed 21 times for 77 yards in defeat. Brandon Rutley ran for a 13-yard score, and Harrison Waid kicked field goals from 28 and 42 yards.
