MLB: LA Angels 5, Texas 4 (11 innings)

ARLINGTON, Texas, Oct. 2 (UPI) -- Juan Rivera hit a homer in each of his final two at-bats Friday, the second one coming in the 11th inning to lift the Los Angeles Angels past Texas 5-4.

Rivera's ninth-inning homer gave the Angels a 4-2 lead, but Texas tied it in the bottom half of the frame. The tying run in the ninth scored when Mitch Moreland stole home while the Angels were unable to quickly execute the rundown of a runner picked off first base.

It was still a 4-4 game in the 11th when Rivera homered to left off Matt Harrison (3-2), who was working his second inning. Rich Thompson (2-0) got the win by working the 10th.

Bobby Cassevah came to the mound in the bottom of the 11th, but walked Moreland and hit Taylor Teagarden with a pitch. Michael Kohn, making his 24th appearance since being called up in late July, replaced Cassevah and struck out two of the three batters he faced to earn his first major league save.

Moreland hit homers off Jered Weaver in both the fifth and seventh innings. Weaver had gone 50 innings without allowing a home run.
