Halladay (20-10) yielded three runs on seven hits over seven innings, walking two and striking out three to become the first Phillies pitcher since Steve Carlton in 1982 to win 20 games.

Halladay achieved the third 20-victory season of his career after notching 22 wins in 2003 and 20 in 2008 for Toronto.

Brad Lidge picked up his 25th save for Philadelphia, which lowered its magic number to clinch the division to six.

Mike Minor (3-2) absorbed the loss for Atlanta, surrendering three runs on seven hits in a 2 1/3-inning start.

Derek Lee had a pair of hits and an RBI and Freddie Freeman hit his first career homer for the Braves, who continue to lead NL wild-card race.
