MLB: Milwaukee 3, San Francisco 0

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 18 (UPI) -- Randy Wolf allowed three hits and threw his second shutout in six years Friday, giving the Milwaukee Brewers a 3-0 victory over San Francisco.

The Giants missed a chance to expand their lead over San Diego in the National League West and remained a half game in front of the Padres, who were routed 14-4 by St. Louis earlier in the evening.

Wolf (12-11) is in the 12th year of a career that has seen him pitch for five teams. He had 11 complete games over his first six seasons and only two since then.

All three hits off Wolf were singles and two of those runners were erased in double plays. He walked two and struck out six while throwing 111 pitches.

Prince Fielder had an RBI single in the first and the other two Milwaukee runs came in when San Francisco tried and failed to get a runner at home plate on fielder's choice grounders.

Madison Bumgarner (5-6) gave up two runs on nine hits over 5 2/3 innings to take the loss.
