EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Sept. 13 (UPI) -- Joe Flacco tossed for 248 yards and the Baltimore Ravens rode a stingy defense Monday to a 10-9 decision over the New York Jets.

Flacco went 20-of-38 through the air, finding Anquan Boldin seven times for 110 yards and Todd Heap with six passes for 72 yards for Baltimore (1-0).

Willis McGahee scored the game's lone touchdown on a 1-yard plunge just before halftime while Ray Rice chipped in with 43 yards on the ground.

The Ravens kept New York quarterback Mark Sanchez under tight control, holding him to 74 yards on 10-of-21 attempts, and limited the Jets to just 176 yards of total offense.

The Jets (0-1) were penalty-prone, committing 14 infractions for a total of 125 yards, their highest total since 1988, in dropping their first regular-season game at the New Meadowlands Stadium.
