SAN DIEGO, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- Brian Wilson concluded a dominant show by the San Francisco pitching staff Friday and the Giants beat San Diego 1-0 to seize a share of the division lead.
Six San Francisco hurlers combined to give up just three hits and lift the Giants into a tie with the Padres atop the National League West. The Colorado Rockies, winners of eight straight, are only 2 1/2 games back.
Starter Jonathan Sanchez gave up one of the San Diego hits but walked seven and did not figure in the decision when he left a scoreless game after five innings.
Aubrey Huff scored the game's only run after being hit by a Clayton Richard pitch to lead off the seventh.
Richard (12-7) struck out Pat Burrell, but Huff stole second during that at bat and beat the throw to third when shortstop Everth Cabrera tried to throw him out on a grounder hit by Jose Guillen.
A fielder's choice grounder by Juan Uribe delivered Huff with the winning run.
Santiago Casilla (7-2) got the victory by working 1 1/3 innings in relief and Wilson recorded the final five outs for a career-best 42nd save. San Francisco is in first place for the first time since May 6.
