Luke Donald returns to golf's Top 10

VIRGINIA WATER, England, Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Luke Donald's strong showing at the Deutsche Bank Championship returned him to the Top 10 in the latest men's world golf rankings.

Donald was one of three players who ended up second, five strokes behind Deutsche Bank winner Charley Hoffman, who jumped from 132nd to 51st in the rankings.

Few highly rated players finished among the tournament leaders this week. Among the Top 10 ranked golfer, only Steve Stricker, who ended up ninth at the Deutsche Bank, joined Donald in the first echelon of tournament finishers.

Donald improved from 11th to eighth, pushing three golfers -- Paul Casey, Ernie Els and Matt Kuchar -- down each one spot in the rankings. The only other change in the Top 10 saw Jim Furyk and Martin Kaymer switch places, with Furyk now fifth and Kaymer sixth.

Tiger Woods is No. 1, leading No. 2 Phil Michelson, third-ranked Lee Westwood and Stricker, who is fourth.

After Furyk and Kaymer, Rory McIlroy retained the No. 7 spot. Donald, Casey and Els, in order, complete the Top 10.
